Formerly known as Megami Tensei Online Imagine is an MMORPG based in the Megami Tensei universe. Aeria Games acquired the rights to the game from Cave Co. Ltd. (simply known as "MegaTen".) Originally released in Japan in 2007, Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine Online was Cave's forst MMO title for PC. It features demons summoning, character customization, and real-time battle tactics. The game is available as Free-To-Play (FTP) with premium items available for real currency. On September 9, 2008 it was announced that Aeria Games and Entertainment had licenced the game for North American and European Release. Beta Invitations were first sent out on December 1, 2008, and close beta started the same day. Open beta started December 30. The official game is now available for download.
The game plot is in a future where the Earth is overrun by demons and plyers will take form of a demon buster, who fights and interacts with these Demons; featuring Japanese anime-style graphics which can appeal to a wide range of fans.
The game consists of real-time stategic commands, with "casting"and "cool-down" time. The character is controlled by the player, while the player's demon acts on AI, but can be commanded using the "Function" keys.
There are several types of weapons. Having a variety of at least 3 kinds (Slash, Charge, and Blunt) is essential to a melle player. Most equippable items also provide minor enhancing effects, except for torso and lower body which is mainly for defense boosts.
As the player begins to explore the post-apocalyptic world of MegaTen, where domnic forces run rampant and it is the player's job to defeat them. Players are given the option to join on of three groups: Law, who try to preserve the system and bring it back together; Chaos, who try to break the system; or Neutral, freelance mercenary types. A players alignment can be changed through answering certain questions on certain acts, or donating money to Law and Chaos Churches. While developing characters, players also have the ability to capture Demons and Spirits, through the use os special skills, and use the captured creatures in battle. These demons can also be fused together and create a more powerful demon.
There are two types of missions in Megami Tensei: Imagine, namely acts and quests. Acts are based on the storyline, while quests are small missions you can take for extra experience and/or money.
